Any trip to Pingyao should include a visit to the
Ri Shengchang Financial House Museum and a stay at
the Tian Yuan Kui Guesthouse. The Tian Yuan Kui
Guesthouse, which is in the heart of the old city,
was built in 1791. During the Jin & Shang Dynasties
it was a prominent area enjoying an economic boom,
and it is popular again today. It consists of forecourt,
backyard, information house, attics, and shops. It was
renovated to restore the style and features of Ming &
Qing Dynasty periods. It sets an example of folk-customs,
simplicity, and unique and beautiful features.

On entering the Tian Yuan Kui Guesthouse, you will be swept
back in time. The classic architecture, courtyards, stone
lion carvings, Ming & Qing style furniture, red lanterns
and fragrant tea by candlelight, all add to the memorable
experience. At the same time, modern facilities, such as
colour TV, air conditioning, and clean, tidy washrooms with
western-style toilets are provided.

All staff can speak good English; they will try their best
to help you solve any problem during your visit to Pingyao.
There is a free-of-charge pick-up service from Pingyao train
station and bus stationr. They can offer many services that
the client need including train tickets and air tickets booking.

There are both Western & Chinese menus. There are
traditional Chinese foods, many kinds of western-style
foods, and Pingyao style desserts. The guesthouse provides
traditional snacks at reasonable prices. If you want to
learn to make Chinese food, the cook will be glad to show you
how.
